The educative potential of facebook in the university

Uno de los argumentos a favor del potencial educativo de las Nuevas Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (NTIC), es su consideración como herramientas para pensar, sentir y actuar solos y con otros. Se trata de instrumentos psicológicos en el sentido vygotskiano, es decir recursos que las personas pueden utilizar para pensar e inter-pensar.
La naturaleza social, interactiva y comunicativa de las redes sociales, principalmente Facebook y su gran popularidad entre los jóvenes estudiantes, hace que estas tecnologías puedan ser utilizadas como recurso educativo en el marco de un entorno colaborativo virtual donde puedan interactuar docentes y alumnos, para favorecer sus intercambios y aprendizajes.
El foco de nuestro trabajo, se sitúa principalmente en el potencial que ofrecen estas herramientas para mediar las relaciones entre docentes y alumnos, desde un punto de vista educativo, social y comunicativo. La capacidad mediadora de las TIC, se hace o no efectiva, en las prácticas educativas que tienen lugar, en función de los usos que los participantes hagan de ellas. Es por ello que en el marco de nuestra investigación, analizamos las prácticas que despliegan alumnos ingresantes de la carrera de Licenciatura en Psicopedagogía en relación a las nuevas tecnologías, particularmente las redes sociales como es el caso de Facebook.
Los resultados de la presente investigación muestran que las redes sociales poseen un gran potencial educativo, convirtiéndose en un espacio propicio para el aprendizaje, actuando así como mediadores de la interacción, colaboración e intercambios entre sus participantes.

Abstract
One of the arguments in favor of the educative potential of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) , is its consideration like tools to think, to feel and to act single and with others, its psychological instruments in the vygotski´s sense, that is to say resources that people can use to think and inter-think.
The social, interactive and communicative nature of the social networks, mainly Facebook and its great popularity among the young students, causes that these technologies can be used like educative resources within the framework of virtual collaborative environments where students can interact educationally to favor their interchanges and learnings.
Here the center of our work is placed in the potential that offers these tools to mediate the relations between teachers and students, from an educational point of view, social and communicative. The mediating capacity of the ICT becomes no effective, in the educative practices that take place, based on the uses that the participants do of them. It is for that reason that within the framework of our investigation, we analyzed the practices that unfold Psicopedagogy freshmen in relation to the new technologies, particularly the social networks as it is the case of Facebook.
The results of our investigation demonstrate that the social networks have a great educative potential, becoming a propitious space for learning, mediating the interaction, collaboration and interchanges between their participants.
