Academic Literacy In Early Childhood Education: Articulating Challenges With Students

Como equipo de trabajo que viene desarrollando hace unos años sus tareas en las actividades de ingreso del Departamento de Educación Inicial, en el 2012 centramos la atención en la alfabetización académica. A partir de esta temática surgieron varias preocupaciones compartidas por tres asignaturas de primer año: Seminario Introductorio al Campo Profesional, Teorías Psicológicas y Pedagogía, que motivaron promover procesos de alfabetización académica a través de prácticas de lectura y escritura científica. Para ello, se trabajó un conjunto de actividades en cada asignatura que dieron continuidad a las iniciadas en el ingreso y que se desarrollaron a lo largo de los dos cuatrimestres con una valoración positiva de la experiencia tanto de los docentes como de los propios alumnos, sin dejar de atender ajustes y revisiones para mejorar el proceso iniciado.

Abstract
As a team that has been developing for some years their tasks in activities related to university entrance courses of the Department of Early Childhood Education, in 2012 we focused our attention on academic literacy. This issue arose several concerns shared by three subjects in the first year: Introductory Seminar to the Professional Field, Psychological theories and Pedagogy, which motivated the promotion of academic literacy processes through practices of scientific reading and writing. For this, we worked with a series of activities in each subject that gave continuity to those initiated in the entrance preparation course and were developed over the two semesters, with a positive assessment of the experience of both teachers and students without neglecting adjustments and revisions to improve the process started.
